About Us

The Pilot Light Foundation was formed to support small projects in Africa that have the potential to significantly improve the quality of life for a relatively low budget, impacting people in non urban areas. The idea of the pilot light is that we will light a small spark that can grow into a larger fire, after we are gone. In other words, we are committed to empowering people to help themselves in the fight against extreme poverty, through cooperatives, micro finance, scholarships, and general groundwork for a healthy life. This is done in partnership with local organizations at the grassroots level. Pilot Light is proud that 100% of donations will be used directly for these projects and is a 501(C) (3).

Pilot Light Foundation’s director is Carol Anne Levy. She was a national board member for the US Fund for UNICEF for 4 years and was one of the founding members and is a continuing member of the US Fund for UNICEF’s Southern California regional chapter. It was through Ms. Levy’s travels with UNICEF that she made friends and contacts in Africa that brought to her attention the types of problems that Pilot Light is focusing on. Ms. Levy was also a dealer of ethnographic art and owner of the World Collection Gallery.
